For Kite Tenjo Lovers Request

You looked over to your fellow Number Hunter Kite Tenjo and sighed before handing him the Number Cards you collected and said, "You need them way more than I do."

He looked at you incredulously before narrowing his eyes in suspicion and saying, "Why would you do that?"

"I know what it's like to lose family, Kite. I don't want you to feel that pain," you said before walking off to try and find more so that you wouldn't get into trouble. You managed to earn the amount that you gave Kite in no time and started to head back when you heard the voice of that Yuma kid again in the distance and sighed. You started running, really not wanting to deal with that kid right now no matter how many Number Cards he has. He reminded you far too much of your now dead little brother, and you didn't want to face that pain quite yet.

You looked down at your little brother, the tears streaming down your cheeks as you softly sang to him. It was his final request and you fulfilled it even after he was gone because you had finished the song. You cried as the last note rang out in the deserted area and you slid his eyes shut before looking up at the sky. You then placed your head on your brother's body and sobbed as you let out your pain and grief, constantly thinking, 'Why him of all people!?'

Thinking back to your brother's death, you looked over to Kite, Yuma, and Astral and saw their worried looks. You then quietly said, "It's been almost a year."

Kite looked from you to Hart and then sighed before saying, "Wanna talk?"

You took your view outside and said, "My parents act as if he's still around. They're too long gone in their denial. Last visit to the mental hospital made me positive of that."

Yuma said, "Do you wanna visit him, ______?"

You were silent before saying, "I already went to his grave. I just wish I could have saved him sooner."

Astral looked at you and said, "I believe I can understand what you're feeling. The loss of of a loved one is a very hard thing to go through."

You kept your gaze at the window and said, "Could we just duel or something? I don't want to talk about it anymore."

-----Kite's P.O.V.-----

'Come on, _______. We were finally getting through to you. Don't give up on trying to move on now,' Kite thought while looking down at you worriedly. He took your request though and took out his deck while Yuma gave you one last worried look before doing the same and they started off.

Shortly afterward Yuma and Astral left while Kite and Hart stayed behind for a little while longer. Hart was watching TV so Kite turned his attention to you and asked, "Why did you give me those Number Cards back then? And don't say that you didn't want me to feel the pain."

You looked over to him and said, "Kite, I gave you those cards because I couldn't stand to see another kid dead over something that wasn't even his fault. More importantly, I didn't want you to feel the guilt and grief. I don't want anyone to go through what I am right now."

He looked at you, surprised that you actually gave him a straight answer. He could see that you were still sad and he moved closer to you as you started crying saying, "______, it's not your fault. There's no reason for you to blame yourself."

"I-it should-d have been m-m-me," you said while burying your head into his chest.

He hesitantly wrapped his arms around you saying, "Don't be stupid. It shouldn't have been either of you."

-----Your P.O.V.-----

You kept your head buried in his chest as you cried, saying, "P-please don't leave, K-Kite."

"I won't leave, ______. Hart and I are here for you," he said while just as hesitantly rubbing your back.

You wrapped your arms around him and said, "T-t-thank you."

Kite sat there comforting you for awhile and when you calmed down you pulled back, remembering how much you really did love Kite. You knew that he cared about you in a sisterly way and you were okay with it as long as you still got to see him. You said, "You're always there for me."

He smiled slightly and placed one of his hands on top of your own saying, "Same with you for me. We're a good team."

You smiled slightly and then looked out the window again saying, "Yeah we are."

You and Kite had combined your cards and defeated the opposing Duelists easily, leaving them in the dust. You'd been steadily moving on with your life and making sure to live for not only you, but your brother too. He would have wanted you to do that, so you were living life to the fullest. You looked over to Kite to see that he was smirking at you while Yuma and Tori were cheering for the two of you. You were surprised when Kite took your hand and started leading you away from the others. You raised an eyebrow and asked, "What are you up to?"

He was silent as he continued leading you wherever it was he wanted to take you. Kite only stopped when you were all alone and you asked, "Everything okay, Kite?"

He looked over to you and said, "______, I've been wanting to tell you something for awhile."

"Okay then. Are you gonna tell me?"

"I wanted to say that I . . ." he started before making up his mind and leaning closer to you until his lips collided with yours. Your eyes widened slightly before you smiled and found yourself kising back. You wrapped your arms around his neck as Kite's had gone around your waist, lifting you off of the ground slightly. You pulled away and said, "Astral was right. Actions do speak louder than words."

He smiled and both of you kissed again, oblivious to your friends spying on the two of you.
